Abstract

The Lempasing Coastal Fishing Port (PPP Lempasing) is a key infrastructure hub for capturing fisheries, handling fishing operations, processing fish, and marketing activities in Bandar Lampung City. One commonly used fishing gear operated by fishers at PPP Lempasing is the mini purse seine. The fish caught using mini purse seines are predominantly pelagic species with significant economic value. This study aims to analyze the main catch and bycatch diversity in mini purse seine fishing operations in Lempasing waters, Lampung Province. The data for this study were collected from local fishing grounds using the one-day trip method. The composition of the main catch and bycatch revealed seven species. The highest main catch was Sardinella gibbosa, with 56,000 individuals (89.2%), while the highest bycatch was Eubleekeria splendens, with 14,291 individuals (15.1%). The catch diversity analysis showed a moderate diversity index (H=1.17), a moderate evenness index (E=0.60), and a low dominance index (C=0.42). The environmental parameters that most influenced diversity and evenness indices were temperature and dissolved oxygen (DO), while the dominance index showed no significant contribution from environmental factors.
