Abstract

Total Suspended Solid (TSS) is physical variable, that causes water to become turbid. This variable can have a negative impact on the waters, because it can prevent the sunlight to enter the water column. It can inhibit photosynthetic phytoplankton activity and other aquatic plant species. Using of remote sensing for water research has long been used as an effective alternative method to help monitor water quality, especially TSS. The purpose of this study is to analyze the distribution of Total Suspended Solid (TSS) using Sentinel-2 Imagery based on seasonal. The season are rainy season, 1st transition season, dry season and 2nd transition season. The results of analysis show that the distribution of TSS in 2021 is highest of the ship transportation area during the 2nd transition season, which is around 48.64 mg/L – 395.20 mg/L and the lowest in the coastal area during the west season which ranges from 7 mg /L – 17.35 mg/L. The highest TSS in the ship transportation area, where the area is also a river estuary area with a high supply of sediment from the mainland. The results of in situ data analysis at the study sites showed an average TSS value of 70.11 mg/L with the highest value at station 22 of 550.8 mg/L and the lowest at station 5 of 1.36 mg/L. Value RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) test showed 27.07, this indicates that the TSS value data at the survey location and the TSS value data for Sentinel 2 satellite imagery are inaccurate. Because the RMSE value is far from 0, if the RMSE value get near than more accurate the data processing results.
